Nowadays the Hurd is as easy to install as Debian :)

The CD images are available on

http://www.debian.org/ports/hurd/hurd-cd

and configuration is documented on

http://www.debian.org/ports/hurd/hurd-install

Alternatively, you can also just grab a pre-installed qemu image on

http://people.debian.org/~sthibault/hurd-i386/
