GLIBC for powerpc-linux

Hello,

I am making Glibc for power-pc platform using the following tutorial.

The GCC and binutils compiled perfectly.

However,

while compiling GLIBC, I am getting the following error during  compilation.

checking for .protected and .hidden assembler directive... configure: error:
assembler support for symbol visibility is required

I have been trying to figure this out for 2 days now, but nothing seems to work.

Please help me on this.
