Hi Peter,

Thanks a lot for the careful review and for taking the time to test the patch!

I'm fine with waiting until after the release if the consensus is that this is
safer given the current soft-freeze.

As for the other mem*/str* RVV routines, we're actually not sure whether it's
appropriate to post those to the list at this stage, even just as RFCs for early
review, given the soft-freeze. We're not trying to push them toward trunk right now.
We've continued iterating on those implementations since Hau Hsu's original series,
with some optimizations and additional routines like memrchr/strrchr compared to the
last submission [1].

Similarly, we currently have an RFC-stage libmvec RVV effort; I've discussed this with
Yulong, and he agreed that we can take over and continue that work [2]. But again,
we're unsure about the right timing for posting that for early review during the freeze.

I'm happy to follow whatever timing the maintainers think is appropriate.
