If someone (covered by a copyright assignment) is doing good work, 
established developers may approve them for commit access (through mail to 
overseers for people with existing sourceware accounts, or the online 
account application process for people without existing accounts).  I 
think that applies to you (and also, as I said above, that the patch in 
question should go in).  Roland?
