If you add anything new now to NEWS, please check contrib.texi as well.

I guess NEWS needs a quick review - with going through the ChangeLog. 
What's missing for sure is a summary of all those bugs fixed - e.g. 
Joseph's work on fixing libm.

We also give for some items the contributors credit by name but for 
others not. Should we be more consistent here?
