In general I think this class of changes is a good thing. Each one needs to be examined to make sure it's really right, of course. PIC is for things that are directly related to PIC vs non-PIC code generation. SHARED is for other aspects of whether something is destined for libc.a or for libc.so. Thanks, Roland
