one request for future releases:  Could you please add the tag before
creating the maintenance branch?

AFAIK the hg equivalent of "git describe" is
$ hg parent --template '{latesttag}-{latesttagdistance}-{node|short}\n'
crosstool-ng-1.1.0-1931-3b8192272c2f

(best to add an alias in .hgrc)

It would be useful if it would report "crosstool-ng-1.14.0-1-3b8192272c2f".
