You certainly can, and things would then be considered. Not only seeing Alan's
most recent reply in that bug, I'm not convinced though that in the particular
case here a backport is advisable to put on the upstream branch. To request
backports it also helps if you can provide a stronger motivation than the
addressing of UBSAN failures, I think.
