Request for Backport Bug Fixes from Master Branch to older Branches for CVE Resolution

You certainly can, and things would then be considered. Not only seeing Alan's
most recent reply in that bug, I'm not convinced though that in the particular
case here a backport is advisable to put on the upstream branch. To request
backports it also helps if you can provide a stronger motivation than the
addressing of UBSAN failures, I think.
