When can we stop using 2 year old tools and start using the modern
versions? If the current versions of these GNU tools are not usable,
why are new versions continued to be released??
More and more other software that bought into the GNU autoconfig method
require the latest versions. It is getting so one needs 3 versions of
autoconf, 2 versions of automake, 3 versions of gettext, and 2 versions
of libtool installed.
I've asked before, and I don't think anyone has been able to say what is
specifically wrong with the newer autoconf and automake.
