gprof on powerpc? (it crashes for me)

Hi

I'm trying to use gprof on PowerPC Linux and it's crashing.

   binutils-2.9.1.0.990418-1c
   glibc-2.1.1-6c
   gcc version egcs-2.91.66 19990314 (egcs-1.1.2 release)

It seems to be crashing in malloc called by IO_new_fopen in libc.  But
I think the real problem may be bfd...  I suspect something is corrupting
memory.

anyone working with powerpc or know about this?
