gprof on powerpc? (it crashes for me)

I don't know if this helps much, but we successfully run binutils'
gprof on a powerpc based embedded system.  

I last synchronized our local binutils repository with the sourceware
repository on October 12, 1999.  We're using the released gcc-2.95.2.
