problem with gcc 2.95.2 or binutils

Using gcc 2.95.2 with binutils 2.10 on HP-UX 11.00 to compile a program
I get the following error message during link phase:

main.o: In function `CryptlibException type_info function':
main.o(.gnu.linkonce.t.__tf17CryptlibException+0x10): undefined
reference to `{anonymous}::exception type_info function'
main.o(.gnu.linkonce.t.__tf17CryptlibException+0x1a): undefined
reference to `{anonymous}::exception type_info node'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

I was told that this is a problem of GNU as and that a special patch
for this problem is available.
Is this right and if yes where do I get this patch from?
