I'd prefer something like:
[887] math: Math library function "logb" and "nextafter" inconsistent
That is, make the number always come first and whitespace-separated from
anything that's not the number or punctuation. (I don't really care about
the exact punctuation choices.)
But I endorse this regardless of the exact format. We don't really have to
decide on that until it's time for the release branch. What we should do
ASAP is declare the general plan to be in force and stop manually updating
NEWS.
