Hi Jason,

I am also new to glibc and didn't have much time for it yet.

You should read or search
[1] https://sourceware.org/glibc/wiki/Testing/Builds
[2] https://sourceware.org/glibc/wiki/FAQ
[3] https://sourceware.org/glibc/wiki/HomePage

Especially [1] helped me to build&run test code with a home-made glibc.

Dear Tim:

Thank you so much for your quick reply and really useful info.

I tried using strip command to strip generated libraries as there are
only a few.

But there is another problem when I tried calling new ld.so, it shows
something like

"/usr/bin/dircolors: : SHHWHH?HC[D: Error 18446744072667951312" no
matter what binaries I executed. I think it should have something wrong
with ld.so?

Anyway, it is another problem occurred, if you could help I will be so
appreciated.

Dear developers:

Sorry for troubling you. I am not sure if it is okay for me to send
inquiry email to this address.

Recently I am compiling glibc 2.23 on ubuntu 16.04 via the following
commands:

configure --disable-sanity-checks CFLAGS="-O3" CC="gcc -s" && make

I expected to compile all libraries especially ld.so under stripped
mode. But getting "not stripped" message using "file ld.so".

Where can I find document on describing such options? And how can I get
it right?

Besides, the reason why I want it stripped because of libraries on my
host are stripped. I checked them using "file" command.
Did you try CFLAGS="-O3 -s" CC="gcc" ?

BTW, if it's just a few files, you can also use the "strip" command.
