 The fix has passed QA and has now been applied as commit 278fcf38584d 
("MIPS/GAS: Also respect `-mignore-branch-isa' with MIPS16 code") to 
master, and backported to 2.29 and 2.28.  A binutils 2.29.1 release is 
scheduled mid September.
