DWARF V2.1 Draft 2

Draft 2 of our evolving DWARF V2.1 document has now been sent to Mike and Jim
(finally) for posting. The following notes apply:

  - Draft 2 is intended to be current to and including 2 May.

  - There are these 3 variants:

      . Plain
      . Differences wrt to the "base" version
      . Differences wrt to Draft 1/1A
        (everything that was different between 1 and 1A has changed again,
	so the distinction is of no interest any more)

    Please remember that the Word97 comparer does some strange things with
    tables from time to time in the way it presents changes in the differences
    documents -- if in doubt, consult the plain file to see what is really
    there.

  - The Foreward and Chapter 1 have been edited to reflect what we are doing.
    In this draft I tried to err on the side of retaining as much historical
    text as possible describing Version 2. I am beginning to think that most
    of it could/should be eliminated. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

  - A lot of work has been done to straighten out the hyperlinks, which should
    now be quite useful (hopefully!). The downside is that a word that become
    or unbecame a hyperlink is treated as a difference by the Word97 file
    comparer. So, there are lots of change bars in places that do not appear
    to have really changed (and they haven't). [This applies almost completely
    to the DW_xxx_yyy names.]

  - There is the beginnings of an Index. I have made one pass thru sections
    1-5. Sections 6 and after have not been worked on yet, although I did
    pick up a few targets of opportunity as I was working on other things.
    (I have yet to compare with the index from V2 to see that everything
    covered there is also covered in V2.1, although perhaps differently.)

    Comments on the style and thoroughness of the index (for sections 1-5)
    will be much appreciated. You are encouraged to point out additional
    items that should be included in the index.

  - I have handled most of the review comments received to date. As part of
    this, the Appendices now look much more like the originals. (Including
    two columns for Appendix 2 -- which seems to be the cause of the next
    item.)

  - Word97 is giving me fits concerning the page numbers beginning with
    Appendix 3 -- it is insisting on resetting the page number to 2 at least
    once, sometimes twice in the following pages. I have "fixed" this
    repeatedly, but it seems to keep coming unstuck anytime I print. Bear
    with me for now as I battle this out...
