Looks like build has been failing for the past few weeks. Specifically, from a __clean__ state, I do the following:
mkdir -p /opt && cd /opt && git clone --depth 1 git://sourceware.org/git/binutils-gdb.git && cd binutils-gdb && \
mkdir /opt/gdb && ./configure --prefix=/opt/gdb --with-python=python3 && \
It gets down to the bottom and errors out:
configure: error: source directory already configured; run "make distclean" there first
configure: error: .././../../gnulib/configure failed for build-gnulib-gdbserver
configure: error: ./configure failed for gdbserver
Makefile:10827: recipe for target 'configure-gdb' failed
make: *** [configure-gdb] Error 1
make: Leaving directory '/opt/binutils-gdb'
Makefile:851: recipe for target 'all' failed
make: *** [all] Error 2
Again, it was clean to begin with. Running disclean and building it again returns the exact same error.
Error is the same also with or without -j nproc.
I have encountered this as well. For the moment, it should work if you build out of tree.
