CVS problem?

I haven't tried a fresh copy yet. cvs diff and cvs hist both worked, it's just the update that doesn't seem to work. I've tried my usual "cvs -z9 -q update", "cvs -z5 update", and "cvs update" without success. I guess I'll try tar'ing my current work and getting a fresh copy. The only thing that I can think of that changed recently is that I got a fresh copy of Cygwin last week.
