Just to let everybody know what's happening, a month ago I finally
jumped in and started on the tcl/tk interface to Xconq. At this point
I have something that looks lame, and is missing all kinds of details,
but it actually works, draws the usual sort of maps, and you can play
a game with it. The coolest part is that so far I'm only using
portable code, which means that native Windows (and Mac) ports will
require no additional graphics work - although there may eventually be
some platform-specific code, for acceleration.

I also have Sami Perttu's supply code now (Unix Netscape mangles ftps,
but the Windows version does it right), and am looking it over.

The next snapshot should be out next week. The curious should be
able to build the tcl/tk version, although for now you will need to
have a version of tcl/tk 8.0 installed already.
