The problem appears to be related to kernel version. Somewhere between 3.6 and
3.8 locking the transport directory repeatedly fails.

Working kernels:

2.6.32-279.14.1.el6.x86_64
3.6.11-1.fc17.x86_64

Failing kernels:

3.8.4-102.fc17.x86_64
3.8.9-200.fc18.x86_64
3.9.0-0.rc8.git0.1.fc20.x86_64
