Well, I hope not *everything*.  I was only kidding about LISP LOOP.

Perhaps ...  though it's been my preference to make implicit as many
facilities as reasonable and possible.  Can you imagine some plausible
scenarios where explicit locking over global variables may be
necessary to script programmers?
