Just to be clear, this is the status quo:
% cd /qmail; cat lists*/*/outhost | sort -u
cygwin.com
ecos.sourceware.org
gcc.gnu.org
sources.redhat.com
sourceware.org

The system hasn't announced itself in Received headers as
"sources.redhat.com" for some time. However, when it did, IIRC, RMS did
complain about the sources.redhat.com in the Received lines.
And, there are certainly people who complain to postmaster@redhat.com
when they have problems sending email to sources.redhat.com.
However, given your premise that people won't be coming to the
conclusion that Red Hat manages the system just because they saw
"redhat.com" in the headers, it seems like you think the headers aren't
all that important so one would have to wonder why you would object to
changing them.
(I don't know if I have to say this or not, but I'm not doing this because
I'm "anti-Red Hat". I thought this was a good idea when I was working
at Red Hat, too.)
I find this resistance odd in that I'm essentially volunteering to take
on more work for myself both in the implementation and in the answering
of postmaster email -- at least until the super duper new system arrives
in March or April.
Or do you know that the deployment of a new system is imminent?
