Hello Jeff,

The commit you are speaking of hasn't been merged to main when I sent 
the last email. I've been able to apply the patch even on 
f075f3ba2720b4cca65e63b67c865.

Also, I've saved the mail I sent containing the patch and also was able 
to apply it. So, I will attach first patch of the series here. It may be 
up to GMail shenanigans.
