fatal: clone of 'git://sourceware.org/git/newlib-cygwin.git'

Dear Corinna,
I have tried installing riscv-gnu-toolchain base on the 
"https://github.com/riscv/riscv-gnu-toolchain" at 
Installation (Newlib) part. However, after I used the 
"make" command, I have faced a fatal: clone of 
'git://sourceware.org/git/newlib-cygwin.git' into the 
submodule path...
The firewall is inactivated, and I can reach 
sourceware.org via browser.
I used Ubuntu 18 and Ubuntu 20 on VMware Fusion.
