Newlib 2.3.0.20160226 : Error: selected processor does not support `vrintr.f64 d0,d0' in ARM mode

Using binutils-2.26, gcc-4.9.3 on a Linux host, I am getting the error 
as shown below.

I have the following multi-lib configuration :

The libgcc  libraries are built fine :

Any thoughts on why the newlib build is giving this error?
