Last time I've built my toolchain for ARM (arm7tdmi included) it all 
worked fine... It was almost one month ago, using newlib directly from 
the repository. I've used GCC patched for embedded (this branch is 
maintained by ARM) and this branch uses different multilib 
configuration, so I guess that may be an issue here...
