These defines are used in FreeBSD header and source files. I suppose a lot
more software was ported to FreeBSD than Newlib so it is unlikely that these
double '_' defines hurt someone.
Newlib does not provide a TCP/IP stack. Due to the similar license it is
tempting to use the FreeBSD stack for this.
