autoconf confusion

Hello all,

I'm getting started in a small Newlib porting project, and thus have to 
enable the "maintainer mode" of Newlib (at least: I think I do). Reading 
README-maintainer-mode tells me there's a special autoconf/automake on a 
server that no longer exists, and reading the mail archives suggests that 
this is not the case. Hence, I am confused.

Is there still a special Cygnus autoconf out there that I should use if I 
want to use the --enable-maintainer-mode switch?

I obviously haven't tried it yet due to my confusion..
