Sorry but I don't understand the distinction. If you want to change
"based on" to "using" maybe that will make things clearer.

Actually, in retrospect, I think I let my bias influence my email too much.
There is no way that I should be opposed to making things more general and
less "cygwin specific". Not relying on things like #ifdef __CYGWIN__ is
always a good thing.
So, for the record, you're right. I'm wrong.
Just wanted to set the record straight.
