newlib under Linux, next version

I actually started to do this a few months back, but ran out of spare
time... What you've got so far looks good. Keep it up!

Q: is this of any interest for this list ? In the archive, I've seen
   several rather negative comments on running newlib under a "real"
   Unix, so maybe I should move this elsewhere ?
