install problem on irix

first, mknumeric_limits begins with:
#!/bin/bash

does it really require bash to work ? isn't sh sufficient ? because
bash is not installed every where the same...

second, with egcs-19990623, and the latest cvs (as of 19990628)
when compiling this:

(sgi3) ~/tmp/libstdc++ > more toto.cc
