Policy on Signed-off-by for backports?

Hi,

I've been cherry-picking changes to the release branches with simple
'git cherry-pick -x', but when submitting a stable change to the
kernel recently, I read that they require DCO be added for
the whole chain - which matches my understanding of DCO and how we use
it in Gentoo too.

Should I be cherry-picking with --signoff too, or no need?

(I do have copyright assignment for glibc, but I'm wondering about
the answer in general too.)

thanks,
sam
