libunwind is not part of gdb, so I don't see why it would need an
assignment.

That sounds like a lot of sour grapes.  I don't know the history
behind the ABI work, but changing it now sure seems like a bit
late... ;-)

In any case, are you worried at all about dynamically generated code?
If so, how are you planning to handle that?
