going forward

I haven't seen any negative reports about the 2.2.4 release so far.  I
think we should wait til Wednesday or so before declaring it a good
release.

Then we can more forward in both directions, stable branch and 2.3.  I
would prefer to get the gcc3 stuff in before branching but so far I
have seen no real proof that the patch works.  I mean working not only
with newly build code, that's the easy part.  I mean with all these
ugly C++ binaries which are able to run on today's systems.  Without
such a verification it's too early to add the patch.

I would have hoped that somebody takes the initiative and gets
something like this started.  Maybe now.  Compile glibc with the
current patch, but it in a current system and run programs.  And most
importantly: share the results.


I'm preparing in the moment my plan for 2.3.  I hope you have your
plan ready soon (by Wednesday?), too.
