To me that looks like a problem with readline. I have no problems with
ncftp 3.0b15 or 16. I use readline 2.2.1, ncurses-4.2+lastest patches,
CVS egcs. Try a newer readline or recompile your existing one. And make
sure you have the right headers installed for it.
