glibc 2.0 changes

Hi,

I've checked in a number of 2.0 changes.  The only urgent one I know
about is the problem with ld.so in multitreaded programs.  I don't
want to release 2.0.7 without this change.

Nevertheless, please test the current version.  I might make another
pre-release now.
