Again, Ruby is not a good example of why a change is needed, as Ruby 
works fine in practice.

It's not orthogonal, because if we provide a better API that will be a 
solution to this (so far only-theoretical) problem. Although a better 
API should also address other problems, that doesn't mean it's 
orthogonal to this one.
