Perhaps, if Alex had made the argument that he reverted the patch because RMS
decided for it to be installed over the objections of the community consensus.
He alludes to that here and there, but his major argument has been that there
wasn't consensus in the first place, and that he was simply restoring the
status quo.

That argument has been unconvincing.
