It was already stated in the Emacs context in Feb 2014, when Ondøej raised 
the issue on emacs-devel, that (a) Emacs already works without 
malloc_get_state, and (b) "Emacs by itself should not inhibit glibc from 
making significant malloc performance improvements that would benefit a 
large set of programs".  See
