handling of generated info pages

why do we check in all of our generated files except for info pages ?  is it 
because they're too big (~5MB) ?  or they're updated too frequently ?

the recent texinfo-5.x release has shown (it's not the first time, just the 
most recent) that this doesn't really scale.  if you have texinfo-5.x 
installed, glibc-2.16.0 fails to build (the 2.17.0 has a lot of warnings, but 
it doesn't fail).

if committing it to git isn't desirable, then how about updating the dist 
release process so that it includes the info pages pregenerated in the manual/ 
subdirectory ?
