Thanks for doing that.  I'll submit the remaining patches shortly.
Although I haven't had time to test them properly with glibc on x32
(or any other platform for that matter), the resulting source code
 after applying the patches has worked for months on many platforms in
gnulib-based applications like coreutils, and the patch series
should handle your x32 problems.
