error while compiling LIBC

Hi all,

I get following error while compiling glibc

initfini.c: Assembler messages:
initfini.c:46: Error: no such instruction: `align'
initfini.c:47: Error: invalid character '_' in mnemonic
initfini.c:69: Error: no such instruction: `align'
initfini.c:70: Error: invalid character '_' in mnemonic

tools used:

binutils-2.16.91.0.5
gcc-4.2-20060121
glibc-20060123

i have tried glibc-2.3.6 also, but same results.

Can anyone tell me what could be the problem?
