Checkout a newer snapshot of glibc from cvs. I'm currently using a snapshot 
from 2004-12-06 which builds fine with gcc3.4.3, but I would checkout from 
the glibc-2_3-branch recently announced by Roland. That should be fine, and 
the 'best available' 2.3.x glibc.
