The following change is bogus for GNU/Hurd; TLS hasn't been implemented yet. Erm, not the whole truth. GNU/Hurd does have TLS implemented (though untested and unused). Only problem is that we don't define THREAD_SELF for GNU/Hurd; I'll see what I can whip up (but that will be after I get some sleep). Happy napping...
