configure: error: CFI directive support in assembler is required

Here's what I've got:

 /lfs/tools/bin/as --version
GNU assembler 2.14.90.0.7 20031029

/lfs/tools/bin/gcc -v
Reading specs from /lfs/tools/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.2/specs
Configured with: ../gcc-3.3.2/configure --prefix=/lfs/tools
--with-local-prefix=/lfs/tools --disable-nls --enable-shared
--enable-languages=c
Thread model: posix
gcc version 3.3.2

NPTL version 0.60 from: http://people.redhat.com/drepper/nptl

glibc compile configure options:

 ../glibc-2.3.2/configure --prefix=/lfs/tools --disable-profile
--enable-add-ons=nptl --with-headers=/lfs/tools/include
--with-binutils=/lfs/tools/bin --without-gd

As another poster mentioned back in August, they could not find the
variable 'libccvasmcfidirectives'. Neither could I.

Is this currently broken?

Thanks,

Shawn S.
