gethostbyname2 seg.faults with "multi on" and IPv6

My previous comment was a bit pessimistic.  I think we have the
alignment correct.  To be sure I've added an assert.

But the correct patch is not to always add sizeof(char*) to the offset
but instead compute the alignment correctly.  I checked in a patch.
Please try it.
