glibc-2-2-branch and ppc64

Steve,
   Well while its not critical to be fixed this very moment, keep
an eye on glibc-2-2-branch then because it is rather mangled I
think. In particular the libgcc-compat.S stuff has vanished. Not
that anyone is likely to use it again. Even debian is skipping
any further glibc 2.2.x releases and going directly to glibc 2.3.
