I have read a few of the previous posts and I do agree that Glibc is now becoming *very* much bloated. It would be nice to get glibc libraries smaller or even rewritten. I have seen other projects like dietlibc and uclibc and it would be nice to see if glibc could get that small. [Or atleast much smaller]
