Jakub,
     Actually Franz Sirl pointed out that in fact RedHat is
hacking those symbols for __libc_wait and __libc_waitpid
back your glibc 2.3.1 srpm. Check the cygnus-to-redhat patch
and you'll find a comment where they are explictly reverted
from being GLIBC_PRIVATE because JDK needs them. Thats the
real reason no one on RedHat is complaining about OpenOffice
quiting on startup.
