patches from trunk to glibc-2-2-branch

Ulrich,
   Do you think the following two patches, which are already in the
trunk, can be moved into glibc-2-2-branch as well. It would help to
get them into the debian glibc if I can point to them being in the
glibc-2-2-branch as opposed to the main trunk.

According to the OpenOffice folks these patches are necessaary for
building and running OpenOffice.org on the ppc.
